Minx, hot trend for nails

Minx Nails, launched in January, 08 has become a nail fashion craze. Celebrities such as Katy Perry, (leopard to right and groovy nails at bottom of page)Scarlett Johansson, Lily Allen, Blake Lively, BeyoncĂ© and many more have been spotted wearing this latest nail fashion.   Rihanna even sported Obama on her Minx (see pic below)

Minx is a solid film with an adhesive back that is heat activated. The heat allows the film to conform around your nail and seal to the nail bed. The manicurist then uses a nail file and scissors to remove the excess film.
Minx can be used on fingernails and toenails but most of the reviews that I read and people that I spoke with state that they last longer on the toenails. The manicure is supposed to last 1 to 2 weeks according to the Minx website but not one person that I spoke to said that their manicure lasted beyond two days without peeling occurring at the tips.

Since this isn’t a traditional manicure that can be removed with nail polish remover, this was also a complaint from consumers. Some of the other bloggers that I spoke to said they just pulled Minx off once they began peeling. (After visiting a Minx salon, I declined to have this service done due to concerns of nail damage.)

I spoke to one of the representatives at Minx headquarters in California and they assured me that the only time they had seen any damage done was if they client pulled Minx from the nails without heat. This can skin the nail plate. If you do not return to the nail salon to have Minx removed they recommend using really hot water or a hair dryer to remove Minx.

Prices range from $55 to $80 for Minx services. To find a salon offering Minx in your area click here: Minx
