Dry shampoo to the rescue

What part of your beauty regimen takes the most time?

According to a recent study, women spend an average of 15 minutes on makeup, 18 minutes dressing and a whopping 40 minutes on hair.  (10 minutes washing and conditioning, 15 minutes drying and 15 minutes styling)  That’s about 243 hours per year for those that shampoo on a daily basis but is it really necessary?

Stylists recommend shampooing no more than every other day, especially for those with thin, fine hair that has a tendency to become oily.  Over washing can irritate the hair follicles and increase oil production, thus skipping a day or two can decrease oil production over time.

Thick haired mavens also need to be weary of over shampooing since it takes more time for the scalp’s natural oils to travel down the hair shaft.  If you have thick hair, be sure to brush from root to ends on a daily basis which will aid in distributing natural oils evenly.

A “must have” for most beauty experts, dry shampoo originated in the 60’s has become one of the trendiest beauty products on the market allowing users to de-grease hair while infusing volume and texture.  Not only does dry shampoo allow you to extend the life of your blow-out, some users reported that their hair style actually looked better on the day they opted to skip shampooing and use dry shampoo instead.

How to use dry shampoo:
Spray dry shampoo approximately 5 or 6 inches from roots
Wait for 2-3 minutes, allowing product to absorb oil from hair
Brush through hair to remove residue of dry shampoo
