If you haven’t heard,
Giorgio Armani launched a “beauty breakthrough” foundation in October called
Maestro Foundation. A patented Fusion
Technology that promises to deliver a unique and unforgettable texture and
natural finish in a water and powder-free base.
Linda Cantello, International
Make-up Artist for Giorgio Armani Cosmetics states, “It’s not a foundation,
it’s a complexion perfector. A whole new
generation of make-up that feels incredible, looks invisible and makes skin
appear luminous every time. Anyone can wear it!!!”. After hearing about this unique foundation by
Armani, I could barely contain my excitement to give it a try.
I am probably one of the
most selective people you have ever come across when it comes to
foundation. For most of my life, I
refused to wear foundation because it looked artificial on the skin and felt so
heavy that I could not stand to have it on my face for more than 5
minutes. I also noticed how foundation
looked un-natural on other women and until recently, refused to wear it and
would only wear Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer.
Like most women in their 40’s,
I have tone and texture changes to the skin that require a bit more coverage
than a tinted moisturizer can provide.
Thankfully, foundation formulations have advanced and I have discovered
two brands that have stellar foundations, that I wear as well as recommend to
my clients: Hourglass Veil Foundation and Skin Tint Crème by MirabellaBeauty. Both of these lines not only
offer clean products that are free of harmful and controversial ingredients but
they also add skin-loving ingredients that actually improve the condition of
the skin.
Upon hearing the rave
reviews about this new “miracle” foundation from Armani, I was “pre-sold” on
the Maestro foundation and knew I was going to be blown away by the product
before having a chance to try it personally.
To be honest, I was mentally picturing the replacement of my two go-to
foundations listed above with this ground-breaking product that was going to
make my skin look like a million bucks!
Although this foundation has
been out for a couple of months, I didn't get an opportunity to meet with an
Armani representative until two weeks ago when I met with Alex, a makeup artist
for Armani and picked up two samples of Maestro that he felt would match my
skin tone. (Shades 6.5 and 7)
I tried the Maestro
foundation the very next day and didn’t get the “warm fuzzies” I was
expecting. Being determined that I would
not only like but LOVE this beauty breakthrough, I have now tested this product
6 times and am sad to report that I am not a fan and frankly, don’t understand
the hype and glowing accolades that Maestro is receiving.
In an attempt to not only
share, but receive information and insight from others regarding their thoughts
and opinions of Maestro, I “put my big girl panties on” and took my makeup off
in front of the camera this week. Let me
clarify upfront that I am a writer and makeup artist, not a video blogger and
ask for your kindness as I humbly invite you into my home and share my first
video review. If you want to skip the 9 minute video, you can see the photos in a short slide show by clicking this link: Armani slideshow review

Other
reviews of Maestro:
UGH I wish I read this BEFORE I read all the other glowing reviews and rushed out to splurge on this also in 6.5 and 7. I feel like I wrote this article - this is EXACTLY how I feel about it. I too wanted to love it, so I used it for about 3 weeks. The first day back with my Armani Luminous Silk, I knew I had to throw away my dreams for Maestro.
ReplyDeleteWith Maestro, it always leaves the top of my nose flaky and doesn't wear very long. I am SO relieved to read that I am not the only one that feels this way! After all the over-the-top reviews, I was starting to believe that my skin was rejecting some magic elixir. Just wish I hadn't got caught up in all the hype and tried a sample first! This "Beauty Breakthrough" is an expensive Beauty Bust for me.
